Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino gambling is illegal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that features a number of comforts aside from the gambling den, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 tables.
